Demnas Balenciaga has always been most compelling when it takes something ordinary and makes it impossible to ignore. Denim is the starting point here — acid washed, heavily distressed with a branching crackle pattern across the surface — but the asymmetrical hem is where the skirt becomes a Balenciaga piece rather than simply a denim skirt. The cascading panel drops at an angle finished with raw frayed edges, a deliberate refusal of the clean hem that would have made this conventional.
